Project Assurance

It is important that your senior management feel confident that project managers are managing their projects in the most effective way especially when new to using PRINCE2® as best practice. ChangeAhead can act as independent Project Assurance to carry out a regular check of the work being done by the project manager. Asking questions such as:

• Are all plans being updated regularly?

• Is senior management being given up to date progress information?

• Are risks being managed well?

• Are issues being dealt with in an appropriate and timely manner?

One of the key benefits of PRINCE2 is its tailorability and initially the role of Project Assurance is to coach a project manager in the best way to use PRINCE2 for that project.

Project Health Checks

A periodic check on the overall health of your project can be a way to find out if there is anything that may make the project not be delivered successfully on time, in cost and to the right level of quality. ChangAhead has a standard Health Check process that can be run to measure the success so far and make recommendations for any areas of improvement. An overall report will be delivered to the project manager and senior management.

Project Management Maturity Assessment

In conjunction with our partner, Outperform (www.outperform.co.uk), we can arrange for you to have a maturity assessment carried out using the P3M3 model.

The Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model (P3M3) is a reference guide for structured best practice. It breaks down the broad disciplines of portfolio, programme and project management into a hierarchy of Key Process Areas (KPAs).

The hierarchical approach enables organisations to assess their current capability and then plot a roadmap for improvement prioritised by those KPAs which will make the biggest impact on performance.

Research from Carnegie Mellon University demonstrates that ROI from process improvement using a maturity model approach is greater than 4:1, with the more mature organisation enjoying 85% less defects and 75% reduced costs compared to immature ones. Schedule variance has proven to reduce from 145% (level 1 maturity) to 15% (level 4 maturity).
